Our Ventura Courts mandate that a wage withholding or wage assignment is used to deduct court-ordered child support from a spouse or partner; generally it is the non-custodial or visitation parent.

Once the spouse’s employer receives their Notice of a Wage and Earning Assignment, the employer is required by law to deduct the specific monthly payment amount and send it to the Court Trustee for payment to the parent receiving child support. Under the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act of 1998 (UIFSA), employers are required to honor out of state wage assignment orders.

Wage assignments may be issued by the Ventura Court and signed by a local Judge or the wage assignment may come from the Child Support Services Department. If the parent obligated to pay wishes to stop or modify the wage assignment, they may request a court hearing.
